Abstract

Reflection is a critical component in lifelong learning, enabling individuals to critically evaluate their actions, leading to deeper insights and continuous professional growth. At the Institute of Teacher Education in Malaysia (IPGM), two reflection sessions are conducted (i.e., during and after the practicum) to ensure that teacher trainees assess the challenges they face and subsequently improve their teaching practice. However, the traditional reflection sessions at the institute have shown limitations, including time constraints for reflection and a lack of comprehensiveness in the topics covered. This research employs an online questionnaire to assess the effectiveness of educational podcasts in facilitating reflection among 122 teacher trainees on their teaching practices. The findings indicate a marked enhancement in reflective thought facilitated by podcasts, with trainees offering several recommendations for further improvement. The study concludes that integrating podcasts into reflective practices has substantial educational implications, particularly in leveraging reflection as a lifelong learning process to promote sustained professional growth and excellence among future educators.
